If you don’t know yet, walking is pretty amazing for your health. It’s easy for most, low impact, and you can do it anytime.

Here’s something that most people don’t know though…

One of the key benefits of walking is the engagement we get from our calf muscles.

Our calves play a key role in pumping and stimulating our lymphatic system. If you aren’t aware, our lymphatic system is sort of like the sewage system of the body – it helps remove waste and toxins.

Every time we walk, we help support the processes of our lymphatic system. In other words, if you’re struggling to go number 2 – walk more!

Now consider this…

I’m sure you’ve heard of the 10,000 daily step goal. I used to not be a huge fan of this number because I felt like it was ambiguous. More recently though, I’ve realized that for many people it is actually a good way to stay accountable and get enough physical activity.

Statistics show that most Americans only get around 3,700 steps. Consider the implications. While it’s not a perfect analogy, imagine if your home sewer and plumbing only worked at 37% efficiency and you were using it EVERY day.
